In desiring and attempting to learn piano for the first time as an older adult (beyond the age of 60), I was fortunate to have been referred to Amy Clovis by a parent of one of her students.  Even more fortunate was that Amy teaches older adults as well as young students.  Amy is caring and earnest in her desire to introduce and encourage the gift ofplaying the piano regardless of age or previous musical experience.  She has a joyful personality, demonstrates immense patience and understanding, and offers helpful instruction individualized to each student, with thoughtful consideration as to the piano student's learning capabilities and technical skills.  She make the learning fun and motivational.  I would, without reserve, recommend Amy Clovis to anyone searching for a piano teacher extraordinaire!

Our daughter has been taking lessons from Amy for 3 years.  Since day one I have been impressed with everything Amy does for all of her students.  She is professional, organized, patient and cares for each student.  She organizes recitals, contests, and performance opportunities several times a year.  Not only is Amy an excellent piano teacher she is an amazing person.  My daughter looks forward to lessons and getting to play for Ms. Amy.

When my 10 year old son first walked in Ms. Amy's class, he had zero exposure to piano.  It took a lot of convinving for him to try piano lessons.  One year later, he has completed the first level for late beginners, and performed in his first recital.  From Ms. Amy, he learned the fundamentals of music and more importantly, he learned to love playing the piano.  He looks forward to going to her class every week.  Thanks, Amy!

Amy is an outstanding music teacher, along with being a skilled professional pianist.  Her teaching style is excellent, in that she shares her extensive knowledge of music while making it fun.  She is gifted with both patience and a beautiful personality.  I started taking lessons with Amy just for help with choir music.  I have learned a great deal from her and emjoyed every minute of it.  She is an asset to our community!

Amy is an awesome Piano Teacher.  Our daughter loves going to piano every week, and Amy has taught her so much in such a short amount of time.  So we couldn't be happier.  We also love that our child gets the chance to play at the nursing homes once a month and she has a recital twice a year!

Amy Clovis (or Ms. Amy as my daughter calls her) has done an amazing job teaching my daughter not only to PLAY piano, but to LOVE piano.  A very big difference!  If you're looking for a strict, metronome using teacher that lays the guilt trip on you if you don't practice...then Ms. Amy is NOT your teacher!  Amy is very easy-going and low on the guilt, which makes her high in my rating.  I wanted by daughter to love music.  Because of Amy's teaching methods, my daughter has progressed throught three years of piano lessons...and we've never had to 'make' her practice.  Amy is always smiling, and there isn't a child (or adult) she can't teach.  Her music knowledge and background is exemplary, and she has a fabulous grand piano the children use in lessons.  Ms. Amy receives a big thumb's up in our book!

Amy is very patient with her studnets and always has a smile on her face.  My boys have been taking lessons for over 2 years now.  She listens and customizes lessons according to each child's needs and level.  A wonderful teacher, thank you Amy!

ABOUT MS. AMY

I began piano lessons at the age of 6.  My parents bought me a used piano from the Methodist church we attended for $50.  My parents still have this piano in their home.  I began piano lessons with Mrs. Nancy Dell, a Julliard student.  I contiuned lessons with her until Mrs. Dell moved away. Then my parents took her to another teacher and I began to hate lessons with this techer because he only allowed me to play the Hannon exercises and nothing else. Bordem set in, and I quit lessons.  My parents then signed me up with Mrs. Teresa Lucas and lessons were fun again!  During my college years I took Piano Performance classes while pursuing a B.S. in Biology and a Chemisty minor. After graduation I worked as a Chemist for many years. Neighbors would always asked me to give lessons to their children and I started teaching once a week for a few kids. I would fill in on Sunday mornings for Rev. Dorthoy Chamberlain.  She taught be how to play the hymnal. When we moved to Florida, there were no chemistry jobs here, and fate stepped in to push me towards teaching full time.  I am now doing what I love!
